The Live & Learn education series is a program intended for persons who have experienced a stroke, heart attack, angina or a TIA (transient ischemic attack). It is also for persons who have risk factors for heart disease and stroke, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, stress, smoking, excessive alcohol and others. These risk factors can increase your risk for heart disease, stroke and kidney disease. 

Four sessions are designed to assist you and your family to learn more about your condition and help you find ways to manage your risk factors. Each session is highlighted by a topic with a presentation by a health care professional followed by a question and answer period.

Sessions are free, informal and fun! There are four 2-hour group education sessions held one afternoon or evening each week over four weeks.

The sessions are held in South West Health at each of the three hospital sites: Yarmouth Regional Hospital, Shelburne Hospital and Digby Hospital.

Our first Year anniversary for the Y-Town Levee with The Chunk of Funk, January 1, 2009. We have really big plans for this year’s show so mark it down on your social calendars, this is New Years Day Levee 2009

The Rodd Grand Hotel on Main Street is the venue at 4:00 pm till 10:00 pm.

The Chunk of Funk will host this super funky good time, but we have special guests lined up to join in who include:

Katelyn Surette
TinPot
Moses Corey
Adam White (Long Beach)
Steve Berryman and Jeff Allen and a funky drumma

We also have some young talent that will be taking the stage for the first time. Brittany Atkinson is working out some funky bass licks for us and we can’t wait to have her on stage with the CoF. Jeff d’Eon is coming back to the stage and I think we may have a young female drummer (15) show us her stuff too… so much excitement.

Hip of Beef Buffet will be available, so bring the whole family out and let them experience some live music.

We will be pulling off some crazy stuff for this year’s event, so I can’t say it enough… get on the scene!

The start time reflects that this is the day after a huge party for some people and family time for others. The end time is so we can all go back to work the next day….

These pendants are created from Tagua also known as Corozo or Vegetable Ivory, the seed of the Ivory Palm found in South America. For many decades Tagua has been used as a substitute for elephant ivory. Hand carved & polished. Each pendant is different.

All have tagua nut, all have one or a combination of non tarnish silver wire, gold wire, gun metal wire. Black cotton cord, Black leather cord, Black hemp cord, or natural hemp cord. The cords are adjustable. Each piece is finished with hemp oil. Do not wear Tagua Jewelry in water. Pendants handmade by woodcarver Jamie Thibault in Clare, Nova Scotia. Each piece is initialed by the artist.
